GNU Wget is a free software package for retrieving files using HTTP, HTTPS and FTP, the most widely-used Internet protocols. It is a non-interactive commandline tool, so it may easily be called from scripts, cron jobs, terminals without X-Windows support, etc.

webfetch is a command line tool to fetch files from a web site using HTTP. It can also submit POST requests (as used in HTML forms). It allows you to spoof the content of many HTTP header items, such as cookies, authentication and user agent. It also supports retrieval through SOCKS4 and HTTP proxy firewalls. On windows platforms, it will use the proxy settings from the registry. In a nutshell, it's an an alternative to wget.

curl is a command line tool for transferring files with URL syntax, supporting FTP, FTPS, SCP, SFTP, HTTP, HTTPS, TFTP, TELNET, DICT, FILE and LDAP. Curl supports HTTPS certificates, HTTP POST, HTTP PUT, FTP uploading, kerberos, HTTP form based upload, proxies, cookies, user+password authentication, file transfer resume, http proxy tunneling and a busload of other useful tricks.
